Enforcing the tenancy

Workshop outline
This workshop explores the nature of negative covenants in tenancy agreements, provides examples of best practice in handling breaches of such covenants and clarifies how to deal with suspected abandonment, sub-letting and assignments without consent. We also consider the role of social landlords and other agencies in antisocial behaviour and provide participants with a range of enforcement options including injunctions and possession.

Pre-course
Participants should bring with them problematic cases and examples of how their organisation has succeeded or failed to resolve them.

How to deal with failure to occupy by the tenant, or occupation by others
