Counselling and support skills - how to help others stay effective 2 days
Programme outline Managers, supervisors and human resources employees regularly have to help staff deal with personal problems. This programme is for participants who understand the importance of supporting staff so they perform well in the workplace.
Participants will:
Discover what counselling is and how it relates to other forms of support, guidance and development
Identify the key skills necessary to be an effective counsellor
Know when listening and other supporting skills can be used to help staff perform more effectively
Analyse and practise typical counselling situations and determine appropriate ways of dealing with each
Who should attend?
Managers, supervisors, personnel managers and all those who have responsibility for staff.
Learning method
This programme is participative and helps those taking part to recognise the skills they already have and use the opportunity to enhance them. Participants will leave the course with a greater understanding of the role of managers in supporting staff and the reasons for doing so.
