Voice and speaking skills for senior executives
1 day, plus one-to-one coaching

Workshop outline
This self-developmental course concentrates on preparation for speaking, encouraging individuality and maximising impact.
Participants will:
  • Gain a deeper understanding of the physiological aspects of speaking and the role of the voice within the communication process
  • Improve their vocal skills through specific exercises
  • Gain greater self-awareness so as to identify both the positive and the negative aspects of their performance
  • Be advised on a specific course of action designed to build on strengths and improve performance

Who should attend?
Senior managers and executives who want to improve their vocal and speaking skills and to raise their profile in the workplace.

Pre-course
Preparation of  five-minute work-related talk.

Learning method
This is a practical and participative workshop.


Workshop content

How to use energy to improve delivery
The profile of a good speaker
How the voice works
How to create the right conditions: posture and tension, understand the effects of these on the voice and message, learn exercises to alleviate the problems
How to develop practical vocal skills: learn and practise exercises on relaxation, breathing, pitch, range and tone
Understand the impact of sounds and words and learn how to make the most of them
Each delegate delivers a previously prepared five-minute talk

One-to-one coaching
Approximately one month after the workshop, each delegate has a two-hour one-to-one coaching session with the tutor. The session is an opportunity to review and assess the progress that has occurred since the course and then to work specifically on areas previously highlighted for development. Alternatively, delegates can use the coaching session to rehearse and perfect a specific presentation or conference speech.
